MAXIM ULTRA Character Intros: Kalen Vandeir
Sam Claflin, who has no connection to Maxim Ultra, outside my imagination.
KALEN VANDEIR - Kalen Vandeir is crazy with a capital “C.” If you like living, it would be wise not to cross him. As one of the deadliest individuals in the galaxy, Kalen was always a wildcard when Sierra Numani added him to the crew after Dalian’s Bounty, but he was unable to control his murderous tendencies and the authorities wanted the whole crew locked away. Kalen blames Max for his imprisonment and now that he’s out, he’s on a rampage, killing anyone with even a hint of knowledge about the job. The primary target in his sights: Maxim Ultra.
For Kalen, I wanted a handsome guy who could get a little grubby and was capable of having the “crazy eyes.” Sam Claflin fits the bill. Thanks to his time in the Hunger Games films, I also know that he has the action chops to go with the looks to make it believable that ladies would fall for a psychopath like Kalen.
