MAXIM ULTRA Character Intros: Robert Land
Brian Tyree Henry, who has no connection to Maxim Ultra outside my imagination.
ROBERT LAND - A childhood friend of Maxim Ultra’s, Robert lost touch with his friend after high school. He headed off to the Air Force Academy and was eventually stationed in Germany. Being a pilot made Robert feel like a rock star and there were no shortage of ladies to help perpetuate that feeling for him. He was shipped off to the hot zone and after flying a little over ten sorties, he was shot down and injured, effectively ending his Air Force career. He went on to fly commercial jets in America. As his marriage imploded and his career fell apart due to his drinking and philandering, Maxim Ultra turned up in his life again to offer him a job. Max felt that Robert’s military flying experience would help him in flying Max’s ship. They began a fruitful partnership that ended when Max ran off to follow Sierra Numani.
Brian Tyree Henry has become one of my favorite actors as of late. I’ve seen him in several different roles and he definitely has the tools to bring Robert to life. He can play humor, drama, and as evidenced in 2018’s Widows, he can also play menacing. He’s a great actor and I’d love to see him play Robert one day.
